Narooma Online has been around since 1998 and was created by Craig Edgar of Craig's Mobile Computer Repairs.

After moving to Narooma from Canberra I realised that there were few quality internet resources related to Narooma and the surrounding district.

My background was Information Technology (the same for my partner Sarah), in Canberra.  Together we owned an Information Technology Consulting company which had a number of large contracts.

I am also a programmer and wrote what was to become the worlds number 1 newsletter software package and it was the income from this software which allowed us to relocate to Narooma (which is when I learnt that you should never own a really big boat). 

Narooma Online was something we created because we thought that Narooma was just an amazing place to live and we wanted to tell the world about it.  We don't want them to come live here but we do want them to visit and enjoy all that Narooma has to offer.

Narooma Online grew pretty fast, it went through some changes and has been providing information to people around the world for a long time.  A portion of the tourism which comes to Narooma can be attributed to Narooma Online, I have no doubt of that. Statistics as of 5th of May 2008 - From the 17th of December 2007 until the 5th of May 2008 Narooma Online receive a total of 575,028 hits - around 115,000 hit per month -That must equate to people turning up in town for a holiday.

Originally Narooma Online was hosted in Canada but as I had the skills and networking knowledge to do it all myself I decided that it should be hosted in Narooma.  So, I went about and built a Web Server, then a Mail Server and all the other bits which allow me to host internet domains locally.  We now host a number of local businesses web sites.  What this all means is that the servers and other stuff required to host web sites are physically located in Narooma.  Others who provide hosting locally actually send the domains elsewhere and the money for those services leaves town. I have teamed up with Rosemary Gooding of Narooma Online Designs (who builds brilliant web sites), to offer Narooma a complete package from web hosting to web site design and maintenance.  While Narooma Online and Narooma Online Designs sound similar they are not actually related, they are two seperate entities.  When Rosemary first approached me with a view to starting a new business she asked if I was ok with the name she had chosen, which I was as I am an easy going kind of guy.  Rosemary has grown Narooma Online Designs into Narooma's premium web design business.  Each of her sites are unique and functional, where some designers provide a template for sites which look just like all the others Rosemary puts a lot of time and effort into designing something which is catchy, efficient and an effective way to promote a small to medium local business. 

Narooma Online has always tried to provide Narooma businesses and individuals with a service that is useful to them.  There are many people in the area who have E-mail addresses @naroomaoline.com at no charge because we beleive in helping eachother as best we can.  We provide web space and pages for businesses who don't want a complete web site at no charge.

I make no money from Narooma Online and keep it going because I love this town, the people, the scenery and everything this town has to offer.
