As we drive from Narooma to Dalmeny we can see that usage of the new cycle way is increasing steadily. Families, individuals, pets and fitness fanatics alike are enjoying the extrodinary sites while out getting some fresh sea air.
The cycle way was built by volunteers, people who should be congratulated on a job well done. The construction got people talking, got them involved and strengthened our sense of belonging. Small communities such as Narooma / Kianga / Dalmeny have always had a strong sense of "helping each other out" and the long term benefits provided by this fantastic slab of concrete will be felt by those who use it. As I drive through I can see children with their parents learning to ride their bikes without training wheels for the first time, I see people walking the family pet, I see people stopping and chatting to each other. You can't help but give a nod to a passer by while walking along the concrete snake which stretches from the Boardwalk to the edge of Kianga. Recently a resident of Dalmeny donated $12,000 to the Cycle Way. Wow, talk about a supportive community. Whom ever you are, thank you very much from all the residents of Narooma. I can't wait for the rest of it to be completed, all the way to Dalmeny. |
