Bush Walking

Bushwalking has become very popular over the past few years and Narooma offers some terrific bush tracks for you to follow if you are that way inclined.  One of the most popular walks is from the base of Mount Dromedary (Goolaga) to the top.  It is not a long walk, but it is a hard one that will test you all the way up.  Once you get there you will glad you stuck with it.

Narooma is surrounded by native bush and most of it's accessible to the public.  While you are out there you will see some amazing wildlife such as Emus, Snakes, Possums, Koala Bears, Kangaroos as well as an abundance of wild birds - Wedge tailed Eagle, Sea Eagle, Kingfisher, Bell Birds and much more.

Snakes are a big worry when bushwalking so take a stick and a first aid kit with you.  The most common snake around these parts is the Red Belly Black but we also have quite a few Brown Snakes which are deadly so do not disturb them if you see one. The Pythons that live in these parts have no venom and won't hurt you unless you get to close in which case they can still give you a nasty bite.  The venomous snakes will get out of your way because they are more scared of you than you are of them, except for the Brown Snake - they are agressive and deadly and they will chase you if you go anywhere near them.
